Herringbone Quilt

I made this quilt with fabrics that I won on Instagram! One day I logged in and Windham Fabrics had just posted a contest for a fat quarter bundle giveaway. I was one of the 1st people to comment so I won this awesome bundle from the “Desk Job” line. It’s got lots of cool retro designs like pencils, hipster glasses and old-school desk lamps.

There was one stipulation for entering: you had to make something within a month! :O I was a couple of weeks late, but managed to get this quilt made fairly quickly. It didn’t start out as a Herringbone quilt; it was supposed to be another pattern but I messed up and made all half-square triangles when I was supposed to leave some of the squares whole. So I googled some quilt designs using all HST’s and decided to make the Herringbone pattern. My husband helped with the placement of the squares. It just needs to be quilted and then it will be a picnic blanket, which is why I went with black as the solid fabric.

I had this quilted to give to my niece for her high school graduation. It was quilted by Cosmic Quilting and she did a fantastic job!
